Founder’s Message – GreyPrideMovement

My name is Tim Clasen, and I created the GreyPride Movement out of a lifetime of lessons in faith, humility, and perseverance.

I was born into the Catholic faith, but for many years I lived pridefully, convinced of my own opinions and too often blind to my own faults. Like St. Paul before his conversion, I sometimes carried myself with arrogance, even when I never meant to demean others. I look back with regret on moments where I could have shown more respect and love—toward my family, my in-laws, and those around me.

Life tested me in ways I could never have imagined. Twice I lost everything financially while raising a family of six—first in 2002 and again in 2011. At one point, I had only six dollars to my name. Those years of struggle brought me face to face with my own weakness, but also with God’s mercy. In that poverty, I discovered gratitude, and it reshaped my life.

Over the past decade, my devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary has deepened, especially through The Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary of Ágreda. Her writings opened my eyes to the holiness and humility of Our Lady, and inspired me to follow her example more closely.

This movement is also inspired by the example of Pope Francis, who lived out a holiness of poverty and deep devotion to Our Lady. GreyPride is my humble response—a call to step away from vanity, self-promotion, and division, and instead embrace humility, service, and gratitude.

The name “GreyPride” reflects this spirit. In a world where pride is often paraded for its own sake, I believe true dignity is found in surrendering pride and embracing humility. Grey, the color of ashes and transition, reminds us that life is short, that we belong to God, and that love and service are the measure of our lives.

The music you hear on this site is also part of my story. Rather than using a traditional church hymn or Gregorian Chant, I chose to share an instrumental track that I composed and recorded on bass with my engineer, Chris Salazar. It reflects the quiet, personal journey of GreyPride and my desire to offer something authentic from my own hands and heart.

I invite you to embrace the GreyPride Movement—not as a rejection of others, but as a personal choice to live with humility, gratitude, and devotion to Our Lady.
